Wokeness Is the New Socialism

“We must fight the woke in our schools. We must fight the woke in our businesses. We must fight the woke in government agencies. We can never ever surrender to woke ideology. And I’ll tell you this, the state of Florida is where woke goes to die.” – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis

Florida Governor/possible presidential hopeful/budding fascist Ron DeSantis came to my state of Pennsylvania – among others — recently to attend some campaign events and to try out his culture war bullshit act on the road.

In his four years as governor DeSantis has shown himself to be a would-be dictator willing to not only use the power of the state to punish those who don’t agree with him, but to push his backward-thinking ideology onto the public.

In the small picture, DeSantis is Florida’s problem. If there aren’t enough voters there who see this clown for what he is then they deserve what they get.

But in the big picture, DeSantis is still another example of a Republican Party trying to find a way to make people forget that it has no policies, no answers to our most pressing issues, no interest in anyone but its rich individual and corporate donors, and no desire in governing for the greater good.

About Rick Elia

Rick Elia wrote for a newspaper for over 20 years, until he stopped doing that. After that he did some (mostly perfectly legal) stuff we don’t want to talk about. He started writing Facebook posts as therapy for the trauma of the 2016 presidential election. One day he came up with the idea of putting his writings into a blog. So he did. Previously, he created two other blogs: The Folks from Patterson Avenue: http://www.pattersonavenue.blogspot.com 3 Dog Productions Video Village: http://www.3dogproductions.blogspot.com
